See Vietnam as you've never seen it before in Faces and Places: Vietnam.

The photography and production of this full-color, hardbound book has been graciously donated by photographer Roger Costello. All of the proceeds of the sale of each book, $25, will benefit the children of the Danang area of central Vietnam.The book makes a great holiday or special occasion book for veterans and anyone who enjoys seeing the world through a photographer's eyes. The Friends of Danang is a 100% non-profit volunteer organization. No one receives compensation; only out of pocket expenses are reimbursed.

Our Goals:

  • Raising funds to support humanitarian projects in and around the seaport city of Danang, Vietnam.
  • Nurturing a better understanding between the people of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Danang, Vietnam.
  • Presenting an opportunity for anyone who has been touched by the war in Vietnam to contribute to acts of human healing.

  • On Friday, October 23rd, at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public and International Affairs(GSPIA) Homecoming and Awards Reception, Tony was honored with their "International Public Service" Award for his work with FOD and Veterans. Tony is a 1971 graduate of GSPIA, The School had this to say about Tony:

    "Anthony Accamando Jr. (MPIA '71) is a retired communications executive, Vietnam veteran and dedicated activist for those affected by the Vietnam War. After honorable discharge from the U.S. Army with the rank of First Lieutenant, he aided with a successful https://www.veraloan.com PA state gubernatorial campaign while completing his master's work at GSPIA. He soon began a long career with Adelphia Communications Corporation, serving in several management positions, most recently as vice president of public and community affairs. A return trip to Vietnam in 1997 prompted Mr. Accamando to organize a group that evolved into the Friends of Danang, a Pittsburgh based volunteer organization that raises money to support humanitarian projects in the city of Danang, Vietnam. He was a founder and member of several other associations, including Veterans' Cable Service, to help vets find employment, and is an emeritus board member of the Vietnam veteran Leadership Program. Accamando holds a bachelor's degree from Duquesne University."

  • Congratulations to FoD member Roger Costello who was honored by the Pittsburgh chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) for making significant contributions through his volunteer efforts. The award will be presented at a dinner ceremony on April 22

  • The Allegheny County Medical Society recently honored Friends of Danang member Dr. Ed Kelly for his work as a physician volunteer. Dr. Kelly is a retired orthopedic surgeon who is the medical director of the Catholic Charities clinic in downtown Pittsburgh.
